Pools & sea views
Amankila's three tiers of water step toward the sea in a way that finally made sense from beside the pool. I liked walking the raised paths between the suites instead of following a hotel corridor. On a clear day, Mount Agung added another layer to the view.
Suite & privacy
My suite's outlook deserved attention. Privacy and the landscape can make up for interiors that are not as recently finished as the famous pool photograph might suggest, but the exact position still shapes each morning. Service suited the quiet: help appeared when needed without turning a slow day into a performance.
Beach club & dining
Down at the beach, a cabana and the long pool offered a different afternoon from the terraces above. I chose my fish from the day's fresh catch at the beachfront restaurant and had it prepared for dinner. A boat trip or village visit was worth fitting in too, rather than spending every day beside the same stretch of water.
Would I return?
Eastern Bali's quieter pace is reason to stay again, provided there are several days to enjoy the pool and coast. That distance is part of Amankila's appeal; a room with the right view and a few days to settle in make much more of it than a rushed stop.
