Maundays Bay
Maundays Bay made an immediate case for staying at Cap Juluca. The pale sand and sheltered-looking water invited a full day with very little on the schedule. Because the resort stretches along the shore, my room's position affected how often I went back for something; bicycles and carts helped with longer trips.
Room & upkeep
The beach view did not excuse bedroom problems. Scratched furniture, a phone that failed or a bed that felt too firm would have been worth raising immediately rather than putting up with them for the week. Staff could remember a preference at breakfast and make a return visit feel familiar, which only made basic room care more important.
Breakfast & Uchu
Breakfast beside the bay was pleasant, but lunch at Uchu was the meal I kept thinking about: ceviche, fish and fried rice, followed by crème brûlée. The beach needed time of its own between meals. For the last day, getting a definite checkout and pickup arrangement mattered; a mix-up that leaves half an hour to pack can spoil the final swim.
Would I return?
Maundays Bay is worth another stay with a room near the part of the beach I actually want to use. When the bedroom and service match the beach, the hotel feels special. At this price, a beautiful coastline should not have to compensate for an avoidable room fault.
