The flowers at the George V are striking, but the people made more of an impression on me. A question about plans in Paris got a useful answer, and the bedroom gave me a proper place to rest after the busy Champs-Élysées. A quiet outlook was worth more than a view directly onto the most active part of the street.
Le Cinq & afternoon tea
I booked Le Cinq well ahead of time. Tea was worth its own afternoon: savory and sweet courses arrived with someone able to explain what was on the plate, not just a tray left under the flowers. I also liked starting an evening with cocktails in the lobby bar, though its dressy social mood felt quite different from the quiet upstairs.
Breakfast service
After the first morning, the breakfast team remembered my usual drink and could have it waiting. That small piece of attention stayed with me more than the grand entrance. The concierge was helpful when a city plan changed, and the spa offered a welcome gap between long walks and dinners.
Would I return?
A quiet bedroom and a couple of meals inside the George V would make another Paris stay feel worth planning. It is not an understated private house; people come to enjoy its public rooms as well. With a good bedroom and a few tables booked, the grandeur felt useful rather than merely decorative.
