The island arrival
The boat from Antigua made Jumby Bay feel separate from the rest of the trip. Calm water and bicycles made it easy to give a day to the island without wondering where else to go. An Ocean Cottage kept the sand close; a named private residence would be a very different holiday, with its own layout and staff to check in detail.
The exact residence
For a residence, photographs of the exact house matter. A pool and generous terrace at one villa do not tell me what another replacement house offers. I would settle that before traveling rather than try to negotiate a bedroom change after the boat ride.
Estate House & dining
I gave dinner at the Estate House some advance attention. It has been closed on five nights of a nine-night visit, a real disappointment if that is the table someone has planned around. I kept lunches easier by the pool and checked which dinner nights were available. Prime beach beds could also be held empty early, so arriving with a plan for a particular chair was not always rewarded.
Would I return?
Jumby Bay's quiet water and island pace are worth revisiting with the exact room and Estate House dinner confirmed. The beach was easy to love. What made the difference was letting the logistics fade after arrival rather than still trying to settle them.
