MY STAY
Breakfast & gardens
The Beverly Hills Hotel felt like more than its pink exterior. Breakfast at the Polo Lounge, gardens on the way to the pool and a comfortable room gave its old-Hollywood history somewhere real to live. My room felt more current than the legend had led me to expect, though its particular position still mattered.

The warm welcome
After a delayed arrival late at night, the welcome was as warm as though the day had just begun. A little birthday cake with candles and Champagne in the room made it personal without a grand speech. I made sure the name on the booking matched my identification; a mismatch at the desk would have spoiled that easy beginning.
Polo Lounge & drinks
The Polo Lounge deserved a real breakfast instead of a quick photograph. Later, a cocktail served in a coconut with the hotel's name carved into it was a detail I would remember. The pool was inviting enough to stay for lunch too, although there was no need to spend the entire Los Angeles visit there.

Would I return?
The old-Hollywood mood deserves another visit when it is backed by careful room service and a genuinely warm welcome. The famous address alone could not rescue a difficult arrival, but with those practical pieces right it felt like a place rather than a brand.
