The lagoon villa
At Cheval Blanc Randheli, the water outside the villa shaped more of my day than the private pool did. Rays and other marine life made it worth sitting on the deck, but the exact location mattered. A sunset view over shallow water and a breakwater is not the same as an open lagoon for swimming.
Breakfast & spa
On an early snorkel morning, the host arranged a quick breakfast with the pastry of the day; the full meal could wait until I returned. It was a small adjustment that made the outing much easier. The spa deserved a similarly unhurried visit rather than a treatment squeezed between reservations.
A beach dinner
One dinner was set on the beach with Chinese food and a film under the stars. I remember that more clearly than any formal dining room. Slow answers to a simple request could still interrupt the rhythm, so sorting out the important tables and treatments with the host early made sense.
Would I return?
A villa facing open lagoon, with plenty of time for the reef and spa, would bring me back to Randheli. The label "sunset" or "overwater" does not tell the whole story of what lies off a deck. Finding out about the water depth and breakwater first is what lets the view become a pleasure rather than a surprise.
