Sea & town
Cheval Blanc St-Tropez gave me Saint-Tropez without bringing its crowds into the bedroom. The hotel sits beside the sea, yet I could walk into town and take the house car back when the streets became too busy. That little change of pace on returning was a large part of its appeal.
Room position
Room position mattered more than square footage. A sea outlook and a terrace where I actually wanted to sit made the light coastal interiors feel right; there was no need for the room to be theatrical. Not every category has the same outdoor space, so the view is worth getting clear beforehand.
Breakfast & dinner
Breakfast beside the water deserved a slow morning. La Vague d'Or made one dinner on property feel like an occasion, but a poolside snack or room-service order also received care rather than being treated as a lesser meal. I liked going into town on another evening and using the car for an easy return.
Would I return?
I would not book Cheval Blanc St-Tropez for a party trip or spend a large room premium purely for size. It worked because sea time, a serious dinner and a lively town could all fit into the same stay, with a quiet room at the end of the day. The terrace was the place to leave unscheduled hours.
