Arrival & the suite
Ko Olina gave me a resort pause from Honolulu almost as soon as I walked through the open-air arrival. A suite with two decks could face the lagoon on one side and mountains on the other, a lovely setup that is worth confirming by room rather than trusting a broad "oceanfront" label.
Lagoon & adult pool
The adult pool overlooking the water was my favorite spot. The protected lagoon made getting in for a swim easy, though its shared, man-made cove is not the same as a clear open-ocean Hawaiian beach. I found the calm water a fair trade, but someone hoping for surf and a wild shoreline might not.
Service & outings
Little requests were straightforward: extra water from room service, ideas for an outing at breakfast, then back to the pool. An outrigger canoe ride and a sunset cruise made more of this part of Oahu than another long drive across the island. I reserved an Italian dinner at Noe instead of trying to find a table after an afternoon in the sun.
Would I return?
Four Seasons Oahu is a place to let the resort carry a few days. I'd come back for the room space, lagoon and attentive people, not use it as a base for spontaneous nights in different Honolulu neighborhoods. Waikiki offers a very different trip.
