The first-floor suite
Andaz Maui makes an immediate impression: low buildings, tiered pools and Mokapu Beach just below. I secured a standard suite with a suite upgrade award rather than take the ocean-view room upgrade that is more typical. Those suites sit on the first floor in a quiet, tucked-away part of the resort. I liked having a genuinely usable room to come back to after the lively pool area.
Breakfast & spa
Ka'ana Kitchen's breakfast buffet had lunch-type dishes as well as the usual morning choices, which made it much more interesting to linger over. The spa was a welcome pause, and the courtesy car could take me to dinner or shopping within a mile. I checked the car's hours before relying on it for the ride back.
Villas & pool life
The villas looked impressive from outside, but I have not stayed in one and would not pretend to know how they feel as bedrooms. The suite was the room I knew and enjoyed. The resort's pools are central to the day, so any terrace repairs or daytime drilling are worth checking before booking; they change the experience more than a small discount can make up for.
Would I return?
The secluded standard suite, breakfast and easy walk to Mokapu Beach are the reasons I would return. With the different pool levels fully available, Andaz has a lively energy without forcing every hour into the same space. I would take that quiet first-floor suite again over an ocean-view room with less space to settle in.
