Overwater bungalow
A slow overwater morning was the best part of The St. Regis Bora Bora. My bungalow had room to sit with coffee and watch the light change. Its position mattered, though: a far-end villa gave more distance from other rooms and a longer bicycle ride to breakfast. Another orientation could swap that outlook for a very different view of the lagoon.
Host & transport
The host helped the island feel smaller, bringing coffee and tea in the morning and having pool floats ready after arrival. Carts were available when I did not feel like turning every meal into a ride. Those small comforts made the big resort easier to use over several nights, not just on arrival.
Snorkeling & dinner
The lagoonarium was worth snorkeling rather than assuming the water beneath my deck held everything interesting. I reserved The Lagoon Restaurant for dinner, followed by a sunset drink at 727 Bar. Checking those tables and the villa package beforehand left more of the day open for the water.
Would I return?
The bungalow's space and island pace deserve another visit after choosing its exact orientation on the map. The word "overwater" alone does not tell me the orientation, distance or outlook of a villa; getting that choice right made the resort far more enjoyable.
