MY STAY
Villa & island
Reethi Rah felt large for a Maldivian island, with greenery, several beaches and space around the villas. I liked having somewhere private to sit rather than seeing the same people from every terrace. Beach and water villas set up quite different days, especially when restaurants are a journey away.

Tapasake & beach club
Tapasake was the Japanese dinner I most wanted to repeat. The casual Beach Club was a tougher sell when a shawarma cost $45 without tasting especially memorable. I also checked the practical details of the villa early: a very short outdoor-shower hose made rinsing off after the sea less simple than it should have been.

The boat arrival
Arrival needed accurate expectations. An ordinary speedboat with bottled water was efficient, but it was not the private-yacht welcome the photographs might suggest. The spa offered hot rooms and a cold plunge worth making time for; I stayed there longer than planned. Any construction near a villa was a question to settle before paying for seclusion.
Would I return?
Another Reethi Rah visit starts with an accurately mapped villa and an honest description of the airport boat from Malé. The green island and dining choice were real pleasures; clarity about the small practical things made them easier to enjoy.
